Head and Neck Cancer
Head and Neck Cancer is classified according to the area from which it existed as follow:
Oral cavity - pharynx - throat - sinuses and nasal cavity - salivary glands.
Risk factors:
Alcohol - Smoking – bad care of oral hygiene - Exposure to environmental pollutants (asbestos - ceramic dust) - exposure to Radiation – EBV virus - HPV virus
Symptoms and Signs:
- Lump in one of the cavities
- Pain in the throat
- Difficult swallowing
- spots on the mouth (red or white)
- Hoarseness
- Difficult breathing
- Chronic inflammation of the sinus
- Pain in face or chin
Diagnosis:
1- Clinical examination and the pathological story
2- Biopsy
3- X-RAY
Treatment:
Surgery - Radiation therapy - Chemotherapy - Directed Treatment.
